About Us...
Yonatan and Arbel Shemesh run the Divakar Yoga studio in Grants Pass, OR where many people are achieving their health and fitness goals in a playful way. In order to share this yoga with more people, the DVDs came into being. Yonatan has a passion for helping people feel good in their bodies and minds, exercising in a fun and safe way.
Yonatan thrives on fitness, doing 6 hard workouts a day (classic type O blood), Arbel (being a type A) thrives on the lighter side of the workout. Together, they created a balanced workout that is good for everyone, a balance between cardio, strength training and stretching.
"The body is designed to move with joy!" ~ Yonatan Shemesh
Yonatan Shemesh was born and raised on Kibbutz Amiad in the upper
Galilee in Israel. He began his Yoga practice in 1980. He was
so deeply moved by the yoga path that he traveled to India to live
at an ashram, studying hatha yoga as well as other forms of yoga.
After returning to Israel, he earned his yoga teaching certification from the internationally recognized Wingate Institute for Physical Education and Sports. Yonatan is also a licensed and practicing massage therapist and a Yoga Alliance certified yoga instructor.
Yonatan and Arbel, married after a 20 year friendship, settled in Grants Pass, a little scenic town in Southern Oregon. Being involved in the intention circle community, they both believe strongly that we create our reality by our thoughts, intentions and actions.
Arbel is an artist and a support for the Divakar Yoga studio. Health and fitness have always been an important part of her life. She works for Fire Mountain Gems and Beads in Grants Pass. Through a Fire Mountain Gems sponsorship, she was featured as a teacher on the PBS series "Beads, Baubles and Jewels" and in teaching videos on the Fire Mountain web site. She is very involved in the fitness, intention and artist communities of Grants Pass.
