To make a weighted staff you need a hollow tube so that is can be filled with sand for weight. We use pvc pipe as it easy to get and is inexpensive.

1) Go to your local hardware store or home improvement store, choose a pvc pipe that feels comfortable in your hands. Choose 4 caps to close of the ends of the two staffs, make sure you are choosing the right diameter caps that will fit on the pvc pipe. Make sure to get pvc glue to attach the caps on to the pipe. Get some sand, any will do.

Tip: The pipe usually comes in 10 foot lengths so it will need to be cut down. I like to ask the store employee to cut the pipe, this way all I need to do is fill it and glue.

If you are tall, you might want to have the pipe cut into two 5 foot sections giving you two staffs. If you are short, you might be more comfortable with two 4 foot lengths. You could fill one pipe with

sand and leave the other empty, this way you have one light and

one heavy staff.

2) Spread the glue on the inside sides of one of the caps, slip it onto one end of the pvc pipe, let dry a couple of minutes.

3) Cut a disposable plastic water bottle in half, use the end with the hole as a funnel to flow the sand into the pvc pipe. Place the staff below you with someone holding it. Standing on a higher stair then the staff, or lowering the staff off a little wall will work, this is so you don’t have to raise the bag of sand very high. Place the funnel opening into the pipe and flow the sand into the funnel tapping the staff every once in a while to compact the sand.

When the staff is full, add glue to the inside sides of the second cap and glue it onto the staff. Let dry a few minutes and you have a weighted staff.

This has been a very exciting time for the Divakar Yoga studio, we feel very blessed by our guests and feel the light energy in Grants Pass went up a couple of notches.

On Saturday August 15th we had a chanting evening at the studio, the energy was very high. We chant one chant for 40 minutes, this really gives some time for the energy to build and wow can we feel it! If you would like more info, email us info@divakaryoga.com

Wednesday night brought to our house an incredible musician/storyteller,

Talia Rose. For you that have heard Talia sing and play her harp you know the healing power of her voice. She brought with her a great gift to us all, an Irish healer/storyteller, an amazing woman, Mary Grant. “After spending time with her I can truly say my life is changed”, said Arbel.

She came to this area for the counsel of the grandmothers in Portland, bringing with her the voice of Ireland. She is a descendent of the ancient people of Ireland, the Tuatha De Danaan, the star people. They called Ireland “the land of the mother” Mary embodies the land and it’s people,

Contact her through www.lifespring-ireland.com if you feel moved to know more.

Then, came the event we had been building to for a while now, Tony Burroughs and the Intenders of the highest good Road show workshop. The whole experience became so much more then we ever expected, good manifesting, Grants Pass!

At the workshop on Sunday August 23rd, Tony, Tina and Vicki brought us into their world of manifestation, giving us some tools they developed to help in our manifestation of a better world.

After the workshop, the Intenders Road Show moved into our house, what an amazing 3 days we had! Singing, reading, manifesting, getting to know each other on a deeper level, wow! Again, our lives are now enriched and will never be the same. On Tuesday, Tony came to the Intention circle at Heartsong co-facilatating the circle with Yonatan and sharing tools of manifestation with the 30 people that gathered. For more info on the Intenders of the highest good, go to www.intenders.com

Relaxing the energy body through breath is so importent. I have noticed some of my students laboring with their breathing, it doesn’t work. For relaxation, your breath should be as light as a feather, coming in and out naturally without effort, just longer and deeper.
Breath deep and prosper, Divakar.
